"In the past, we never really understood the importance of participation, particularly among women," said Mrs. Ken Sokhorn, 57 years old, living in Anglong Sen village, Sambour Meas commune, Muk Kampoul district, Kandal province. "Now things have changed. We are aware of the importance of participation in the village and commune development and women have better understanding about their rights to take part in other activities."

Previously, Mrs. Ken Sokhorn attended trainings on rice planting, money saving, health, local governance, community organising and gender. She is kind, pleasant, diligent, presevering, helpful and keen to help people without any discrimination toward  the poor.

Due to her activities in commuity development work as well as her knowledge, experience and attitude, Ms. Sokhorn, was elected by commune representatives in 2008 as a member of the commune council in Sambour Meas ocmmune, Muk Kampoul district, Kandal province.
